  • Wedding Cocktail- December 2007: Organizing a winter wedding overseas proved to be a little more challenging than we had anticipated. I am originally from Montreal Quebec and Paul and I are currently living in Perth Western Australia. I have always dreamed of having a winter wedding and easily persuaded Paul into having a winter wedding in Old Montreal. The first difficult task was finding a venue, which suited the style of the wedding we were hoping to have and fit our budget. Thankfully, we were visiting Canada for a few months when we first got engaged so we had some time to visit Montreal and start planning our wedding. Following two long weekends in Montreal we were beginning to feel frustrated because we were not able to find a venue we both liked. The Internet was a godsend for planning this type of wedding. We came across Galerie Gora by accident while searching for reception venues and we quickly fell in love with what we saw on the website. A wedding reception at a contemporary art gallery was the perfect venue for Paul and I. We were planning a fairly small to medium size wedding and Galerie Gora was able to accommodate 80 guests for a relaxed, classy Cocktail Dinatoire, which is a fancy name for a cocktail wedding. Initially I was not too keen on the idea of having a buffet style dinner; however, Lyne, the owner of the gallery, quickly reassured us that it would not be a typical buffet. And it certainly was not. The experienced chef, who had recently returned from Europe, had plenty of modern ideas up his sleeve for an exceptional menu. Our guests were greeted with a sparkling wine and a variety of hors d'oeuvres to temp the taste buds. One hour later, four food stations were organized, which catered to various appetites as well as guests who were vegetarian. Each station displayed fresh, well- presented foods that disappeared very quickly! Compliments to the chef were whispered among the guests through out the evening. Galerie Gora displays a different art exhibition every month, which provided such a unique atmosphere for a wedding reception. In addition, the decorations, which Lyne created were very simply and inviting. We were given the choice of having a jazz pianist early in the night to provide our guests with some music as they arrived. Later in the evening Paul and I had designed a slide show and created our own play list on our ipod. We had no problems using the Gallery's audiovisual equipment. Guests quickly migrated to the dance floor, which was fully equipped with disco balls and mood lights. We had an exceptional night that we will remember forever. Many of our guests commented on the venue we had selected and complimented us on prganizing such a successful and fun evening. It was one of the most unique and enjoyable wedding receptions some of them had ever attended. Thank you to Lyne and her staff for helping to make our wedding such a pleasurable evening!

  • Service de traiteur - Mariage à la Galerie Gora de Montreal: Mme Geneviève Lauzon de Perfect Planning a été mandaté pour orchestrer de A à Z la réception de mariage de Catherine Corban et Robin McKechney de Toronto. Les mariés ont impressionné leurs invités par la beauté des lieux, la qualité de la nourriture et du service. Pour débuter, le personnel circulait parmi les convives avec des bouchées froides accompagnées d’un vin rosé. Une parfaite combinaison pour cette magnifique journée d’automne! Après le toast, un repas 5 services attendait les convives. Au plat principal, notre service traiteur proposait 3 choix dont le pavé de centre du rib sauce vigneronne, le 4ème service se composait de fromages fins du Québec, fruits secs et noix. Cette fois-ci les mariés ont choisi de servir leur gâteau de noces et fruits en robe de chocolat vers 23h00, question de donner la chance de perdre quelques calories sur la piste de danse. Quelques jours après la réception, juste avant de partir en voyage de noces pour l’Afrique, Catherine et Robin ont pris le temps d’écrire une lettre de 2 pages pour féliciter tous les intervenants qui ont travaillés à la réussite de cette réception et tout particulièrement à Geneviève pour sa disponibilité et son sens de l’organisation.
